I had a task to translate some ancient wisdom. And I remembered about stories by Petr Bormor ([livejournal.com profile] bormor ). He is originally Russian but now he lives in Israel. He calls himself “the unkind storyteller”. As I know these stories had never been translated into English. It’s a one story that pretends to be ancient and full of wisdom.

For 3 years Prince Charming looks for an enchanted castle. He kills some dragons and defeats a lot of wizards. He was hungry and cold and he has irresistible temptations, but he conquers all of them and he keeps his honor.

Finally he finds the castle. He cuts back the blackthorn with his sword. Then he breaks a padlock. He climbs to the top of a tower where the beautiful princess lay asleep for 100 years. And then he kisses her. And nothing happens. He tries again. And he kisses her in different places. And she doesn’t have any reaction. He shakes her, and he slaps her, and he tickles her. But the princess still sleeps.

He checks that 100 years has ended already. So the evil charm must have disappeared. But it is still there.

Because it’s not enough to be strong, brave and beautiful. It’s necessary to be a prince by blood. Prince Charming was the son of a groom. But only Queen Mother knows this fact and Prince doesn't.

So if you don’t want to waste 3 years of your life you should ask advice from your mother. Even though she is … it doesn't matter at all.
